Lyrics:

Verse 1:
To start out, holler your heart out – fuck that
fuck asking permission, fuck asking for scraps
and fuck speaking Truth to Power
shit ain’t as simple as a child offering a monster a flower

The whole concept assumes too much
assumes these assholes in power don’t know what’s up
when the truth is they already know the truth
and the truth is they don’t really give a fuck

So fuck speaking truth to power
we spending too much time trying to change their minds
it’s the eleventh hour
no more holding our breath, we spoke truth to death

Gandhi said it ain’t about somebody seeing the light,
it’s getting everyone to act on what they know is right
and we already know what’s right, so let’s be it
i’ll spell it child-style for those who can’t see it

See, I was getting my ass whipped by this bully one time
i kept speaking the truth, and he kept busting my eye
it was only when the rest of the playground stepped in
and spoke power to truth did truth finally win, so…

Chorus:
Fuck speaking truth to power / “they ain’t listening” / We speaking power to truth
Fuck speaking truth to power / “they ain’t listening” / We speaking power to truth
Fuck speaking truth to power / “they ain’t listening” / We speaking power to truth
Fuck speaking truth to power / “they ain’t listening” / We speaking power to truth

Verse 2:
If they ain’t listening, then truth to power is silence
they got us thinking their power is money and violence
when their real power lies in our disorganization
what they fear is our numbers and imagination

So imagine their fears in practice
imagine all the people not imagining shit but making it happen
starting from a different place
imagine breaking their heart, instead of waiting for their heart to break

A new era of action, hearts ablaze
run that shit smart like football plays
announce sustained protest, one hundred days
a random list of tactics, one hundred ways

to bumrush the system, hell be raised
each rebel on the scene, a pebble in the machine
from heavily planned to spontaneous
coming at ‘em all directions, simultaneous

A new kind of grind, twenty first century picket line
mass strategic misdemeanor, fuck the fine
from activists to hacktivists, speaking power to truth
and watch ‘em have a panic attack to this

From law suits to blocking supply routes
decoys and faints, tripping up the jackboot
just don’t forget the golden rule if the traffic’s got to stop
bring as many cameras as they bring cops

and document this dissent, online to print
whistleblowers and leakers, power to truth speakers
tell me what you gonna do when them hundred days are through
we do a hundred more ‘til they knees hit the floor, we singing

Chorus:
Fuck speaking truth to power / “they ain’t listening” / We speaking power to truth
Fuck speaking truth to power / “they ain’t listening” / We speaking power to truth
Fuck speaking truth to power / “they ain’t listening” / We speaking power to truth
Fuck speaking truth to power / “they ain’t listening” / We speaking power to truth

bridge narration:
It is time once again for a generation to define and demonstrate the power of militant non-violence. A power that we must voice not merely in our rejection of the current model, but by breathing life into our vision of a more just society. Yes, if we are fighting for human rights, then we must stay human. But if we are serious about winning a better world, our days of speaking truth to power are over. From now on, we speak truth to the future and power to truth.
